Hated by the World

Posted by Pastor Szekely on July 23, 2007

In John 7:7, the Lord Jesus Christ said before His unbelieving siblings (vs5), “The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.” Jesus said that the world could not hate them because they professed no principles in opposition to the world, but the world hated Christ because He testified that it’s practices were evil…hmm

ARE WE AS PROFESSED FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST HATED BY THIS WORLD BECAUSE WE – LIKE OUR SAVIOUR – TESTIFY AGAINST IT’S PRACTICES?

Now if you’re like me…you don’t like to be hated. But what you and I like cannot matter. If we have Christ living through us (Gal. 2:20) it’s Biblically sound to say that the world and it’s wicked philosophy will hate us!

Have we become so one with the world and so tolerant of it’s spirit and philosophy that we see no reasons or have no spiritual backbone to reprove it? Have we not incurred it’s hatred because we fervently stand for the Right? If the world cannot find in us no cause to hate us and cast us from their company, then haven’t we betrayed Christ by making friends with the world?

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (1 John 2:15).

  1. Great article Brother. Why do we expect to be accepted by a world that could not accept Jesus while he was alive here on earth?

Great point, Bro. D! The servant is not above his Master.

I’m very thankful for you, my brother! Lord bless, and keep on keepin’ on!!!
