The Education of Moses

Posted by Pastor Szekely on January 24, 2007

“And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds”. Acts 7:22

To me this is a really interesting, Biblical statement on the education of Moses. During Moses’ upbringing, the Egyptians were thought of as a scientifically advanced people. They had a thoroughly developed view of the universe. They believed the Nile was the center of the Earth, that the planet sat on the back of a crocodile, etc. It was a thought-out and developed view, but it was ridiculous…And Moses was trained in this educational system! (Who says a child cannot hold to the Biblical account of Creation even if he is subjected to the lie of evolution?)

Although Moses was subjected to this educational system, we never find one trace of it in the first five Books of the Bible. God’s Word is neatly laid out in Truth! The Bible should not line up with science, but science needs to line up with the Bible! For example:

The foundation of all modern science lies within this statement: There are 5 principles that must be so for anything to exist – Time / Origin / Force / Space / Matter – in that order.Isn’t it more than coincidence that we find this statement expressed in the first verse of the first Book of the Bible?

“In the beginning [Time] God [Origin] created [Force] the heaven [Space] and the earth [Matter]“. Genesis 1:1

God is so good! The basis for everything we believe is found in the first eleven chapters of the Book of Genesis. The way a person receives those eleven chapters will determine their outlook on education, economics, relationships, religion, society…and science.

What a great testimony to the inspiration of the Bible! The testimony of Moses completely rejecting the popular thought of the day!

Amen, Brother!!! I pray more would be like Moses in rejecting what the world has to say and receiving what the Word has to say!

As a pastor I sometimes think that I’m always stressing to the congregation to read and meditate on God’s Word…but I can’t stress it enough ~ we’re being bombarded with “popular thoughts of the day” all the time! I like what 2 Peter 1:12 says on “going over things again and again”: “Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth”.

Thank God for His Word ~ Thank God that His Word is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword ~ Thank God for the time to read and meditate upon…and to apply His Word!!!

    Take care, my brother!

    Hello Brother,
I was wondering if you could do two things for me (and everyone else). 1. Please give a summary of why you believe closed communion is scriptural and 2. why you don’t accept alien baptisms. I am putting some material together and want to see what you have to say about what God has to say. Thank you for everything.

    Bro. D,

Great to hear from you…and it’s kind of funny because that’s what I’ve been wanting to do!

Thank you for your encouragement, and at the beginning of next week I should have some things on these topics.

Lord bless you in your walk with Him!
