Dare to be a Disciple

Posted by Pastor Szekely on December 27, 2006

Just a quick thought from Luke 9:23:

Discipleship is a matter of:

1) DECISION = “And he [Jesus] said to them all [His disciples], If any man will

2) DIRECTION = “come after me

3) DENIAL = “let him deny himself

4) DEATH = “and take up his cross daily[remember Galatians 2:20!]

5) DEVOTION = “and follow me

Luke 9:24, “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.”

Don’t “lose your life” for the wrong reasons!

That’s good Brother. I heard an old preacher say one time, “Discipleship means change, change means loss and loss hurts”. Discipleship is just hard work.

I like what you said, Bro. D. Discipleship IS just some hard work. Consequently today for some, “hard work” is foreign or viewed as being “bad”. No, hard work is good. Anything worth having takes hard work to achieve, and if we as believers will be more like Christ, it will involve denying ourselves, taking up our cross, and being devoted to the One who loves us and paid it all!

Thank you for your comments, brother!
